Vishay was founded in 1962 by Dr. Felix Zandman with funds raised from his cousin, Alfred P. Slaner, and was named after Dr. Zandman's ancestral village in Lithuania in honor of the family members who died in the war. The company's initial products included foil resistors and foil resistance strain gages.


By 1985, the company had grown to become a leading global manufacturer of these products and began a series of strategic acquisitions to become a manufacturer of electronic components with a wide range of products. Today, Vishay is one of the world's largest manufacturers of discrete semiconductor devices and passive electronic components.

Vishay is one of the world's foremost manufacturers of power MOSFETs. the Vishay Siliconix MOSFET product line includes a wide range of advanced technologies in more than 30 package types, ranging from the chip-scale MICRO FOOT® and thermally-advanced PowerPAK® series to the classic "TO " transistor form factor. Single and multi-chip MOSFETs feature integrated functionality such as Schottky body diodes and ESD protection, while the unique PowerPAIR devices combine an optimized combination of MOSFETs for synchronous buck converters and other applications in a single package.


2023 VISHAY introduces new fourth-generation 650 V E-Series power MOSFETs that provide high efficiency and high power density for telecom, industrial and computing applications.


Vishay offers a broad range of MOSFET technologies to support all stages of the power conversion process, from the high-voltage inputs to the low-voltage outputs needed to power the latest high-tech devices. With the SiHP054N65E and other devices in the fourth-generation 650 V E-Series, the company is meeting the need for efficiency and power density improvements in two of the first stages of the power system architecture, the power factor correction (PFC) and subsequent DC/DC converter modules. Typical applications will include: servers, edge computing and data storage; UPS uninterruptible power supplies; high-intensity discharge (HID) lamps and fluorescent ballasts for lighting; solar inverters; welding equipment; induction heating; motor drives and battery chargers.


Also new is a new automotive-grade photovoltaic MOSFET driver, the first to offer integrated shutdown circuitry in a space-saving SOP-4 package. Designed to provide high performance for automotive applications while increasing design flexibility and reducing cost, it features the industry's fastest switching time and highest open-circuit output voltage. The device is AEC-Q102 compliant for use in pre-charge circuits, wall chargers and battery management systems (BMS) for electric (EV) and hybrid electric (HEV) vehicles.
